Brookside Kitchen Refresh with Painted Cabinets

This Brookside kitchen project shows how thoughtful updates can transform a room without replacing every part of it. The existing cabinets were well built and the overall layout already worked, so the remodel focused on preserving those useful elements while changing the finishes and details that made the room feel dark and dated.

A lighter kitchen with stronger contrast

The cabinet boxes remained and received a fresh white finish. New hardware, counters and backsplash tile brightened the perimeter and gave the existing cabinetry a cleaner look. Glass-front doors at the beverage area retain a traditional detail that fits the character of the home.

A dark range hood and matching island introduce contrast against the white cabinetry. The island’s straighter profile and light countertop replace the previous rounded, wood-topped form. Larger pendant lights establish the island as the center of the kitchen, while brass-toned accents add warmth throughout the room.

Existing features used more effectively

The long perimeter still provides substantial storage and work surface. The sink remains centered beneath a window, and the corner beverage refrigerator is paired with glass-front cabinets above. By changing the color, hardware and focal points rather than discarding the workable layout, the finished kitchen keeps the proportions and millwork appropriate to the house.
